I’ll be very straightforward with you – this place is amazing! It’s not just the hype of discovering a new place that serves great food. There’s more to a good restaurant than just well-cooked food. There’re tons of places that serve good food and yet, you still don’t run to go back. And as much as I’d greedily like to keep this place my own little secret, I liked it too much. And, well, you already spammed the inbox of my Instagram and I promised to reveal this cool new place on the blog, so I’m really out of options here.
Savica casual urban eatery opened as recently as last week and we decided to give it a try last night because if you know anything about me, you know that I scrutinize the menu before even thinking about visiting the restaurant. The photos on their Facebook page were looking great and that was enough to get us through the door.
Their one-page menu consists of 2 different appetizers, 2 kinds of soup and 9 a la carte dishes. There’s also a very affordable lunch menu we were late for (but didn’t mind one bit). As truly eager meat lovers, we settled on porchetta with baked sweet potatoes and beetroot and the BBQ baby beef ribs, served with baked potatoes and coleslaw. In this case, the photo says so much more than a thousand words.
The meat was tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned and the sides were flavorful, but not overwhelming. The complimented each other and oh my, the serving sizes… You won’t leave this place hungry or run to the Choco cafe right across the street, trust me!
Another great thing, especially if you live or work in the neighborhood is that Savica casual urban eatery has a very affordable lunch menu, too. Don’t feel like cooking and still want to eat something filling, tasty and nutritious? Skip delivery and come here.
The staff is also very tentative and polite, which should be a given, sure, but so often isn’t. They’ll make you feel at home. Like, if you had a really great home and a private chef who cooks great food for you and everyone just wants to please you… Ok, got a bit distracted. Still, this place is great.
This place isn’t exceptional in a way that you cannot get the food this good anywhere else in the city. Sure you can, Mundoaka, Duck Fast bistro, Rougemarin, you name it. But, if you’re looking for something a bit low-key and away from the city center and its lack of free parking spots and still want to eat really good for less the price, Savica casual urban eatery is the place. Did I mention that the check was less than 200 kuna in total, for two dishes and the drinks? Yeah.
While you’re making your weekend plans, I’ll keep daydreaming about that porchetta.
